Doula Services We Provide

  Labor Support

A labor support doula is present to provide continuous physical and emotional support for the child-bearing couple.  Studies have proven several benefits to having continuous female support, which include a shorter period of labor, less C-Sections and less use of other drugs and interventions.

  Postpartum Support

All of our doulas are trained in infant CPR and proper handling techniques. Nonetheless, we are a non-medical service. The services that we do offer are those that have been found most beneficial to the new mother and her family. These include newborn care, newborn care instruction, breastfeeding support, sibling care and household help. Household help could mean a great number of things, such as light housekeeping, laundry for the whole family, meal preparation, and errands and grocery shopping.

  On-Call Labor Babysitting

On-call labor babysitting is a service for families without resources for childcare when a couple needs to go to the hospital for the delivery of their baby.

Many families, especially in Fairfield County have little family or friends in the area who can come and stay with siblings when the mom goes into labor.  This service provides a doula to be on-call for the family so that when the mom goes into labor she can count on the doula coming to stay with her other children for however long it is needed.

If a family needs a doula at 2 am or 2 pm the doula is on-call and available.

Please contact MothersCare for rates and scheduling information.

  Overnight Services

Overnight services are available to families who prefer nighttime care of newborns or for breastfeeding support overnight.

Overnight doulas only do baby care, not household chores, at night.  If a baby is bottle fed, the doula will feed, change and settle the baby during the night.  The doula will nap if the baby is asleep between feedings or be up with the baby if the baby is awake. There are no minimum number of nights that a family has to contract for.  It can be for one or two nights or consecutive nights for as long as needed.

For breastfeeding moms, the doula can assist with breastfeeding instruction, if needed, or she can help relieve some of the mother’s awake time by changing and settling the baby when the mom is done feeding. Overnight doulas come for a minimum of 8 hours per night.

Please contact MothersCare for rates and scheduling information.
